You help judge as hundreds of comedians compete to win cash, prizes, and notoriety! In the first round of the festival, 10 of the best comedians in the West converge upon the San Francisco Bay area to see who makes it to the quarter-finals. Come watch as up-and-comers clash against household names, vote for your favorites, and be a part of comedy history. Last year's festival featured representatives from Comedy Central and Letterman, and big headliners such as Margaret Cho. There's no telling what surprises will be in store this year!

passports, please...our trip to toronto.

October 22, 2010-

I don't know why, but it's always stressful crossing the border and doing shows in canada...we landed in buffalo, ny and while on our way to toronto, we were trying to get our story straight...you have to have the right permits, visas and such to do shows in canada...paperwork i never have.

i'm canadian so i can always say i'm visiting friends or relatives but this weekend i'm traveling with justin rivera, a comic/magician...he has suitcases full of gimmicks, gags and gadgets...women's underwear, bras and sponge penises...but no permits or visas.

he got hassled by the TSA asking what the locks and chains were for...sure, it's for magic.

rumor has it, that if you say you're doing a multi-cultural show they'll let you through...so, for the record we were doing multi-cultural shows up in canada.

thankfully we got through with no problems and after a long day we arrived at our destination at around 4 am.

we had to be at a tv studio to do some promoting around 9 am...needless to say i had bags under my bags...

'Daytime'...

with your hosts, brittany cornish and chris ferreira.

justin had a crush on the host...

Jaime Dookie

this nice lady was kind enough to charge us $30 for a copy of our segment...

horsin' around in toronto...

can you tell i'm not a pot smoker...

looks more like i'm playing a band instrument.

our shows were on friday and saturday at M studio in mississauga, ontario 30 minutes west of toronto...after our shows they did this thing called rakaoke...it's karaoke with a live band...i sang some 80's song and my friend craig did a prince and beatles tune...what a BLAST!!

i have to figure out a way to bring these guys to cali...i think they would be a big hit here...

M studio is not only a cool live performance venue but it's also a cool bar, a actual music studio and most importantly, a filipino restaurant.

you gotta check this place out: http://minervastudio.ca/

grabbing some grub before the show...

justin had the sisig...it's chopped up pig's head (ears, the snout and the brain) and for good measure an egg on top...

i just had the boring, but very yummy korean BBQ...

the shows...

sound check...

after the show...

a big thank you to the gang at M studio...

craig thumbing through a beatle's book...before his big performance.

Ron Josol, a toronto based comic, had a gig in NY but made the drive right after his show to hang out...

on sunday, ron was kind enough to get us some stage time around toronto...

grubbing after the show...

this mcdonald's blueberry pie only had minutes to live before i rescued it and stuffed it in my pie hole.

eaton centre, canada's times square...

...i flew home monday so i could get back to work on tuesday and justin stayed 'till thursday...guess what he got to do?

...monday, he got to hang out with russell peters...he hung out at his pad and went shopping with him...tuesday, he went to the demitri martin and steven wright show in toronto and got to hang with them after the show...

...damn day job!!
